I have pursued the study of health and well-being for over 30 years. With an Interest in health sciences and movement, and as an athlete in multiple sports, I pursued an academic background in Kinesiology, the science and study of human movement. My studies inspired me to further explore health and nutrition in developing countries. This led me to a year in Africa where I volunteered in Ghana, West Africa. I had the privilege of being a part of a primary health care team for 6 months and spent another 6 months travelling across the continent.
This experience was transformative as I saw first-hand the abundant illness, lack of resources, and the demanding lives people led. I also learned that people found joy and resilience daily, despite their challenging circumstances.
Returning from this year abroad, I continued my studies in mind-body sciences and completed a Stress Management Education Certification with a view to teaching and educating people on the science of stress, and more importantly, the coping mechanisms that can be utilized to maintain health, energy, and productivity.
This was the beginning of a path that has taken me into hundreds of organizations, to providing clinical work in addictions and mental health, to working with cancer patients, and providing health and life coaching to individuals.
Today, I continue to pursue my professional development through regular attendance at programs such as Harvard’s Institute of Coaching, Harvard Medical School’s Science of Resiliency conference, Mindfulness retreats and conferences, and Positive Psychology conferences.
Passionate about the mind-body connection, I am a life-long yoga student in the Iyengar tradition. If not on my yoga mat, you’ll find me running, biking, walking my dog, and whenever possible travelling with family and friends to hike, bike, ski and explore new places.
